Evelyn sensed the sounds and vibrations of the music by opening her mind and body to them. Master percussionist Ron Forbes spotted Evelyn’s potential. He guided her to feel music some other way than to hear it through her ears. He trained her by tuning two large drums to different notes. Evelyn realised that she could sense different sounds and vibrations through different parts of her body. She could feel the higher notes produced by one of the drums through the upper part of her body, above the waist and the lower notes of the other drum through the lower part of her body, below the waist.

Traditionally, a crow is considered ominous and the harbinger of doom and evil. The poet’s mood was also sad but suddenly the way in which the crow shook the hemlock tree and made the dust of snow fall on the poet changed the poet’s mood. Perhaps it gave the poet inspiration to shake off his depressive thoughts and revive his cheerful mood. Thus the crow acted as a catalyst for a positive change.

Kezia was a little girl. She was very afraid of her father. He spoke very loudly in the house. He looked like a giant to her. So she always avoids him. One day she tore up an important speech written by her father. He became very angry and beat her with a stick. Kezia started weeping. She wondered why God had made fathers. One day Kezia’s mother was ill. She was taken to the hospital. Kezia was alone in the house. She had a bad dream at night. She cried with fear. Her father took her to his own bed. She laid beside him. She felt secure and protected as she snuggled up to him. Then her view of her father underwent a change for the better when she realised that her father was not a cruel giant but a large-hearted, hard-working man who got extremely tired by the end of the day and hence, could not play with her.
