She would say "don't listen through your ears try to sense it in some other ways. She found that she could sense the music through different parts of het body. She opened her mind and body to music . The rest was her sheer determination And hard work     Evelyn Glennie’s character is quite inspiring. She had never-say-die-attitude, determination, inner-belief, and perseverance. She lost her hearing disability owing to some auditory nerve damage at quite a young age. However, she did not give up! Music was her passion; she resolved to pursue learning music. She seemed to believe in the immense inner power that was greater than her disability and challenges. Ron Forbes, the great percussionist encouraged her to develop her other faculties for music. As she practiced, she realized she could hear music through her body. She always moved ahead. She stunned the world with her musicality. She has won many accolades and laurels. In 1991 she was awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society’s prestigious Soloist of the Year Award. If anyone wants an inspiration to achieve one’s dream, one can learn a lot from Evelyn Glennie.

The author said that Toto was not the sort of pet they could keep for long because he was very mischievous and kept destroying things at home. He would tear things to pieces. He would make every effort to tear a hole in the narrator’s aunt’s dresses. On a particular instance, the narrator and his family saw Toto on the dining table stuffing itself with rice. In order to spite the grandmother, he threw the rice dish down from the tree and chattered with delight when it broke into pieces. The narrator and his grandfather realized that they were not too well-to-do and could not afford the loss of household items on a frequent basis. It is for this reason that grandfather sold Toto back to the tonga-driver that too only for three rupees.

The feelings of humanity is the beauty of life. Humanity makes us true human beings and we ensure the people and life-forms around us don’t suffer. Humanity urges us to lessen sufferings and pain of people around us.

In the chapter The Lost Child by Mulk Raj Anand, we see humanity reflected in the man who heard the cries of the lost child. He not only becomes sensitive to the child’s pain, but also came forward to help him. He lifted him up in his arms and consoled him. He offered him all the things that he had wanted earlier; he took him to the roundabout for a ride on the toy horse, the snake-charmer, the balloons seller, the flower-seller, and finally to the sweet seller, but the child didn’t want any of them, he just wanted to be reunited to his parents.

That kind man’s sympathy and kindness must have made the lost child feel safe and protected.

Yes I agree with margie that schools today are more fun than the school in the story because the students in the story have no interaction with their teachers. Schools in the story do not appreciate the tradition of asked questions and getting explanations to them. Children who go to school, develop qualities of interaction and building bonds with other students and teachers.
