The Happy prince saw the misery of the poor people. His heart melted with pity for them . Their sufferings brought tears in his eyes. He gave away his ruby, sapphires and all the gold for the poor. He became blind . His body looked ugly. But he was happy at heart because he had given away his all for the poor. The Happy prince came to know that real happiness lay in the service of the poor. God blessed him and kept him in his city of gold.

The winter came but the swallow did not go away. He lived with the prince. One day , the swallow died. This broke the leaden heart of the statue. The statue was no longer beautiful. It was melted in furnace. But the leaden heart did not melt. It was throw in the dust heap. The dead swallow was also lying there. God sent one of his angels to bring the most precious things. The poem overall speaks to the fact that it is harder to kill a tree than a simple jab of the knife. In the end, killing a tree is very difficult. One must pull the tree out by the roots , expose the strength of the tree, and allow the sun and the air to choke the life out of it.

He takes him in a train. The ticket collector wants grandfather to pay for the monkeys ticket . but their seems to be no rule for fixicing monkeys fair. So he equated him with a dog .

Preeti Kumari 4 years, 8 months ago

He did not allow other pet animals to sleep at night. Thus, Grandfather decided to take Toto to Saharanpur. A big black canvas bag was arranged for Toto to travel. The Ticket collector classified Toto as a dog because there was no mention of fare in his rulebook for a monkey to travel in the railways.

Once baba had returned home, coolies were engaged for special work in the narrator's compound. An island was made for Baba. It was twenty feet long and fifteen feet wide, and was surrounded by a dry pit, or moat, six feet wide and seven feet deep. A wooden box that once housed fowls was brought and put on the island for Baba to sleep in at night. Straw was placed inside to keep him warm, and his stump, along with piece of bamboo, both of which had been sentimentally preserved since he had been sent away to the zoo, were put back for him to play with.
Baba was brought back home as the narrator's wife was extremely sad without Baba's presence at home and even Baba was unhappy sitting in a cage with no company. He also dearly missed everyone at home. The wife, the narrator nor the currator could handle to see Baba in such a state. The wife pleaded the currator to allow Baba to return home. The currator had obliged and allowed the family to take Baba back home.

Moments Lesson- 7 The Last Leaf Introduction The Last Leaf by O Henry is a beautiful story depicting the virtue of human sacrifice and love. This story is about Sue, Johnsy, and Mr. Behrman; Sue and Johnsy were two young artists, they lived on the third floor of an apartment in Greenwich Village, a favourite place for aspiring painters to live at. Sue and Johnsy had met at a restaurant and became soul-mate friends. In the winter pneumonia epidemic affected many people in that area; Johnsy also fell prey to it. Her condition became worse from bad with each passing day. The doctor confided to Sue one day that Johnsy was losing hope and desire to get well under the painful influence of the disease. She began to harbour a belief that she would die the moment the last leaf fell from the ivy climber on the wall opposite her window. She also shares her belief with her friend, Sue. Sue discussed it with Mr. Behrman, an extremely talented painter living in obscurity in their neighbourhood. Mr. Behrman decided to save Johnsy’s life. That night when it was extremely cold and raining, he painted a leaf on the ivy climber in such a manner that it looked like a real leaf. When Johnsy saw that the last leaf on the ivy climber on the opposite wall had not fallen, she was somehow filled with the desire to heal and get well. This desire helped her recuperate fast. And she recovered. Jhonsy accused herself. She admitted before Sue that she had been a bad girl. The next morning Sue told Johnsy that, Mr. Behrman, was affected by pneumonia and died. She tells her that the janitor found him on bed with wet clothes and shoes two day back. There was a ladder, a lantern, some colours and paint brushes lying on the floor. Thus he laid his life to save Johnsy’s life with his last masterpiece.
