Colonialism Imperialism
Colonialism is when one country physically exerts its domination, either through a combination of war and diplomacy, over another country with a view to exploiting its resources Imperialism is when one country is involved in creating an empire and expanding the borders in order to project its power.
In colonialism, there will be a movement of people to the new territory, becoming permanent settlers in the process Imperialisms is just about exerting control over the conquered regions either through direct governance or through indirect control mechanisms
Colonialism in the modern sense dates back to the 15th century when Europeans began to colonize large swathes of Asia and Africa Imperialism is far older than colonialism dating back to ancient empires in history but is more commonly associated with the Roman Empire
Colony comes from the Latin word colonus which means ‘to farm’ Imperialism comes from the Latin word ‘imperium’ which means to ‘command’
Examples of colonialism are to be found in the takeover of India, Australia, Southern, and Central Africa by the British and Westen and North Africa by the French The Scramble for Africa in the 19th Century and the Chinese domination of Vietnam from 111 BC to 983 AD are examples of Imperialism

Indian rulers were not allowed to have their army to protect from external and internal invasion the English army would be their guard and if the Indian ruler failed to make payment of the English army they have to give part of their territories as penalty.

The Resident was a senior British official posted in the capital of these Princely States, technically a diplomat but also responsible for keeping the ruler to his alliance. This was seen as a system of indirect rule that was carefully controlled by the British Resident.

There are factors that influence distribution of both natural and human made resources all over the world.
Natural resources: Are water, fertile land, minerals forest which occur naturally
Human made resources: Are Machinery, roads, buildings, vehicles
Some of the factors that influence distribution of human made resources are:
1. Social and political support
2. Economic strength of a particular region/country
3. Accessibility of good transport system
4. Extent of technological development of that region/country
5. Cost required to develop and exploit resources in that region/country
These factors determine the distribution of resources and different countries or regions have different abilities with regard to these factors
Factors that influence distribution of natural resources:
1. Water

Samridhi Kumari 3 years, 5 months ago

Usually- the newspaper reports are not biased. These reports explain the fact as it was. Most of the times, these do not try to manipulate the event. These represent the true story of the event with every detail. On the other hand, the official reports are usually biased. These are written as per the will of the senior officials. These reports may carry the biased view of the reporting police officer. Thus if the historians are based only on the police reports, they may become misguided.

Three organs of government are judiciary , legislature and executive. JUDICIARY - The Supreme Court (SC) at the top level to the community courts at the bottom. They interpret the laws made. The judiciary is that branch of the government that interprets the law, settles disputes and administers justice to all citizens. The judiciary is considered the watchdog of democracy, and also the guardian of the Constitution. It comprises the Supreme Court, the High Courts, District and other subordinate courts. LEGISLATURE - It forms laws and procedures, along with examining the administration and its resolutions. The chief function of the legislature is to enact laws. It is the basis for the functioning of the other two organs, the executive and the judiciary. It is also sometimes accorded the first place among the three organs because until and unless laws are enacted, there can be no implementation and application of laws. EXECUTIVE - It comprised of the President or Governor, Council of Minister at Union or State level, along with the administration which executes and enforces laws made by the legislature. The executive is the organ that implements the laws enacted by the legislature and enforces the will of the state. It is the administrative head of the government. Ministers including the Prime/Chief Ministers and President/Governors form part of the executive.
