Fair trial means impartial trial where the rules and justice prevails. t means taking account all the aspects of a case and considering the situation in details to arrive at the decision. It means giving the accused and the prosecution equal opportunity to put forth their case without ant prejudice or favors. The judgment given in case of fair trials also needs to be done without undue delay. As we know justice delayed is justice denied.

Substance floats on the surface a fluid when density of the substance is less than that of the fluid. When someone drowns and dies, the body starts to sink because the air in its lungs is replaced slowly with water thus increasing density. Once the body is submerged, its decomposition starts.

It remain submerged for some days until the bacteria in the gut and chest cavity produce enough gas(i.e,methane, hydrogen sulfide, and carbon dioxide). As the gas is light the body float back to surface of water.

India was the jewel in the crown of the British Empire. As well as spices, jewels and textiles, India had a huge population. Soldiering was an honourable tradition in India and the British capitalised on this. They regimented India’s manpower as the backbone of their military power. Indian troops helped the British control their empire, and they played a key role in fighting for Britain right up to the 20th century.

British saw India as their most prized colony and rightly so. India had:

1)People: More than any other colony. What are they good for? Taxes and cheaper armies and labor. And of course huge markets for finished products (Why? since all indigenous industries were discouraged and undeveloped. People would have to buy British goods in the end which boosted their exports).

2)Raw materials: India was rich in cotton and jute which was exported to England and the machines of industrial age transformed them into profitable finished goods, ready for use.

3)Land and agriculture: Plantation/commercial agriculture could be easily practiced due to fertile lands of the region. This meant more export and profits could be earned through commercial crops and taxes. Plantations needed huge labor, which of course were available cheaply.

4)Opium: Indian lands in places like present day UP and MP could grow opium. This was supplied to China and in return, tea was bought from them and exported to England. Purpose? The trade was not one-sided anymore (i.e. from China to Britain). The British didn’t need to use their currency to import tea from China anymore, keeping a healthy balance of payments. India is indeed is called “jewel of the crown” because of the above mentioned benefits.

5)TED: The world's most remarkable ideas. Join Pope Francis, Elon Musk and many more in the sharing of the world's latest and greatest ideas.

Spices were one of the important merchandise which the western world wanted from India . The primary reason that the Western world wanted to find a direct route to India was to cut down the Arab middlemen in the spice trade . Pepper was known as black gold , which was highly priced merchandise. And it was important for Britain to expand the colonies , to make itself competitive in this trade among the other European poweres of that time .

Indigo Blue was another important resource which was exploited from India during that times. If you are looking for a list of resources ,this could be some of them but not the only resources .

Pepper Cloves Cardamom Cinnamon Indigo Sandalwood Gold Cotton British forces where the protector of these trade ,and later using Indian man power in their interests which if you are think is another important resource.

A minority is any community which comprises less citizenry than the majority, assuming that there is one group which is the majority. Think of Hispanics in the US. But as long as they are active and organised politically, and vote in an organised and disciplined way, then their voices will be heard.

If they don’t act together, then they will be marginalised and ignored, and this doesn’t depend on the size of the community but on how politically organised and strategic they are.

There were many reasons for its failure.

1. The revolt did not spread to all parts of the country. Nor was it supported by all groups and sections of the Indian society. South and West India remained largely outside the fold of the revolt. Many Indian rulers refused to help the rebels and some were openly hostile to the rebels and helped the British in suppressing eh revolt. The middle and upper classes and the modern educated Indians also did not support the revolt.

2. The revolt was an un-organized effort. The rebels lacked an ideology or programme which could be implemented in the captured areas. None of them knew what to do after the capture of a region.

3. The leadership of the movement was weak. Most of its leaders lacked a national perspective and were motivated by narrow, personal gains. They fought to liberate only their own territories. No national leaders emerged to coordinate the movement and give it a purpose and direction.

4. The rebels were short of weapons and finances. Whatever few weapons existed were outdated and no match for the sophisticated and modern weapons of the British. The rebels were also poorly organized. The uprisings in different parts of the country were uncoordinated. Often the sepoys were an uncontrolled group of people. They were unable to carry through their early military successes.

The revolt of 1857 was a landmark event in the history of India. It was the first great struggle of the Indians for freedom from British imperialism. The period after the revolt saw major changes in British policies and in the administrative set-up of India. Broadly speaking, the revolt sowed the seeds of nationalism in the minds of the Indian masses.
