A preamble is the introduction to the Constitution. It is the expressionary statement in a document and explains the Constitution's purpose and underlying philosophy. The Preamble is important because :
- It contains the philosophy on which the entire Constitution has been built.
- It provides a standard to examine and evaluate any law and action of government, to find out whether it is good or bad.
Four key points about the Preamble are that India is defined as a sovereign , socialist, secular and democratic republic.

Britain was referred to as the workshop of the world as its iron and steel industries started growing from 1850s and later had success. So many started buying and selling iron from Britain in greater quantities and thus it was given the title of ‘work shop of world’.

The Company made a proper system of administration. The Indian rulers did not have a proper system of administration. The Company took suggestions from pundits and maulvis before making new laws for criminal and civil cases. The Indian rulers seldom thought about respecting local sensibilities before making any rule.

The Subsidiary Alliance system was used by Lord Wellesley, who was Governor-General of India from 1798-1805, to build an empire in India.
Under the system, the allying Indian state's ruler was compelled to accept the permanent stationing of a British force within his territory and to pay a subsidy for its maintenance.
Also, the Indian ruler had to agree to the posting of a British Resident in his court.
Under the Subsidiary Treaty, the Indian ruler could not employ any European in his service without the prior approval of the British. Nor could he negotiate with any other Indian ruler without consulting the Governor-General.
In return for all this, the British agreed to defend the ruler from his enemies and adopt a policy of non-interference in the internal matters of the allied state.

The Three Estates refer to the three divisions of European society in the Middle Ages: the nobles (first estate), the clergy (second estate), and the commoners (third estate). Despite the transformation of European society caused by the Scientific Revolution, the Reformation, and colonialism, the rigidity of these class divisions continued in France until the 1789 revolution, and even longer in countries such as Russia. However, the incipient Industrial Revolution and growth of urban centers had already transferred significant de factor power to the third estate prior to Louis XVI's attempt to raise taxes on the peasantry that led to the French Revolution in 1789. Despite Napoleon's seizure of king like powers, the events of the revolution permanently swept aside feudalism in France.
