Sound needs a material medium like solid ,liquid or gas to travel and be heard because the molecules of solid, liquid and gases carry sound waves from one place to another. Sound cannot travel through vacuum or empty space because vacuum has no molecules which can vibrate and carry sound waves.

Slow combustion is a form of combustion which consumes time and takes place slowly. Cellular respiration is an example of slow combustion. In respiration, glucose is oxidised and carbon dioxide and energy are released in the process. This is a very similar reaction to combustion. When a hydrocarbon burns, such a natural gas or methane (CH4), it combines with oxygen, producing CO2 and water and large amount of energy.

However, the energy released in combustion and respiration are very different.

Yogita Ingle 4 years ago

Alexander Fleming, a Scottish scientist discovered the first antibiotic & named it ‘Penicillin’.

Penicillin discovery was ‘a chance’ discovery.  Fleming was experimenting with Staphylococcus bacteria. A petridish (cell culture dish) had been left open by mistake, was found to be contaminated by blue-green mold. This visible mold growth inhibited bacterial growth around itself.
