Fermentation is a metabolic process in which an organism converts a carbohydrate, such as starch or a sugar, into an alcohol or an acid. For example, yeast performs fermentation to obtain energy by converting sugar into alcohol. Bacteria perform fermentation, converting carbohydrates into lactic acid. The study of fermentation is called zymology.

Agriculture is the main source of income in India since a long time. Even for many decades, India was an agrarian economy. Apart from that India has a large number of agricultural consumers. Due to very high population it becomes necessary for a country like India that it maintains the agriculture sector and works for its benefits. The following methods can be useful for India to make it a vast agrarian country and to reduce malnutrition-
- For breeding and seeding, we should select s high quality seed. These crops will have faster growth and higher yield.
- The management and collection of the crops should be done very carefully. As, many a times, the crops which are being stored in the go-downs may get spoiled.
- The crop should be made available to everyone. The government should not discriminate between the rich and poor.
- The information regarding better production of the crops and its care should be made available on multiple platforms such as television and radio. It can help farmers to understand variety of crops and its farming.
