Loudness of sound depends on amplitude of vibration. Loudness of sound is directly proportional to square of amplitude of vibration. Louder sound has higher amplitude, while quieter sound has lower amplitude. Loudness is expressed in terms of decibel. The noise becomes physically painful above 80 dB.

Effects of Water Pollution:
·  Contaminated water becomes unfit for consumption by humans and cattle.

·  It results in drastic reduction of fish population. Fall in fish population results in loss of livelihood for fishermen.

·  Water pollution results in increased cases of water borne diseases; like cholera, diarrhoea, jaundice, etc.

·  Presence of faecal matter results in high concentration of E.coli in water; which causes water borne diseases.

·  Contamination of groundwater results in high levels of toxic materials in fruits, vegetables and grains.

Effects of Air Pollution:

  • Carbon dioxide cause global warming because it is a potent greenhouse gas.
  • Smog: Smog is a mixture of smoke and fog. Smog reduces visibility, and thus can create problems for drivers at highways. Pilots face problems while landing or taking off; due to smog.
  • Carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas even at low concentration. It reduces oxygen carrying capacity of blood, and a person may die on exposure to carbon monoxide.
  • Acid Rain: Oxides of sulphur and nitrogen mix with rainwater to create acid rain. Acid rain can be harmful for living beings and also for non-living things. Acid rain corrodes the outer surface of buildings. This has caused the Taj Mahal becoming pale.
  • Suspended Particulate Matter in air can cause respiratory problems; like asthma and other respiratory disease.
  • Greenhouse Effect: Greenhouse gases; like carbon dioxide and methane trap solar radiation and thus increase atmospheric temperature. This is called greenhouse effect.
  • Global Warming: Overall increase in temperature of earth is called global warming.

First understand what is greenhouse effect ; GREENHandE EFFECT : greenhouse is a glass enclosure in which the plants I kept to protect them from the cold air outside , the glass traps the hot rays of the Sun and doesn't allow them to escape and thus keeps the inside temperature high and warm for the growth of plants. Our atmosphere acts as an greenhouse class 8 traps the maximum heat of the Sun and then the minimum part is reflected back , this typing of solar radiation bye the atmosphere in the nature is called as greenhouse effect . Only due to this the temperature of the earth remains warm for existence of life . Some of the greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide , nitrogen , water vapour etc . But now days the amount of seo2 gas is increasing day by day because of deforestation . This sudden increase in greenhouse gases leads to the high temperature and warming of Earth . This whole process is called as GLOBAL WARMING. Hope you understood my friend

In the same way, the earth has its own clothes to control its temperature. This function is fulfilled by the atmosphere, invisible to us, that wraps around the earth. Without the earth's atmosphere, the air temperature on the earth's surface would be far below zero. The carbon dioxide we discharge in the process of living our lives also becomes a constituent in the atmosphere. When we release carbon dioxide it is like putting more clothes on the earth, leading to increased temperatures in the air from the ground surface up to an altitude of almost 20 kilometres. Carbon dioxide is causing all the fuss now, but there are many other gases that also cause warming. Other gases discharged through human activities such as methane gas, and chlorofluorocarbons, made famous by the ozone hole, are not thought to have as big an impact on global warming as carbon dioxide, but in the same amounts they cause more temperature rise than carbon dioxide, so concerns about them are rising. << Go back Go next >> ▲Go to Top Admission hours 9:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. ※Last admission time is 4:30 P.M. An asteroid is a large, irregularly shaped object in space that orbits our Sun. If one of these giant rocks ends up on a collision course with Earth, we are in for big trouble. An asteroid is like a comet. ... Around a million asteroids are located between Mars and Jupiter in an area called the “asteroid belt.”
