Excess nutrients, such as nitrogen and phosphorus, can harm soils, rivers, lochs and estuaries by causing algal blooms and by changing the natural balance of plants, insects and other life. In the wrong place, pesticides can kill river insects and fish and can remain in river sediments for many years.  These chemicals include fertilizers rich in nitrogen and phosphorus, herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides. Water pollution results from runoff of these chemicals into surface waters or from infiltration of these chemicals into groundwater.

  • Sound travels through a medium in the form of waves. When vibrations take place, they are transmitted through a medium and form alternate compression and rarefactions.
  • Compressions are regions in the medium where the particles are closer whereas rarefactions are regions in the medium where the particles are spread out.

Fibers that are soluble, viscous and fermentable seem to be the healthiest, by far. Resistant starches are also incredibly healthy. Good sources of healthy fibers include vegetables, fruits, oats, legumes, nuts, dark chocolate, avocados, chia seeds and various other foods. A lack of fiber in your diet could be making you gain fat. This is because fiber helps control your appetite to keep you fuller for longer. One study showed that eating an extra 14 grams of fiber per day may decrease your calorie intake up to 10%.

Leguminous plants help in yeild because they have some bacteria like rhizobium in their root nodules which fix nitrogen to soil and plant

Yogita plz no bookish answer

Yogita Ingle 7 years, 2 months ago

Legumes are plants that have nodules that contain rhizobia bacteria. These bacteria have the ability to fix/ incorporate free atmospheric nitrogen into the soil. This they do by converting the nitrogen in the atmosphere into nitrates and nitrites that can be used up as plant nutrients. The legumes are thus very important plants in the field in providing nitrogen nutrient in the soil.

Crops such as cereals or grass plants,on the other hand, do not have this ability of fixing nitrogen into the soil. Therefore, what happens is that the cereals depend on either nitrogen that has been fixed by leguminous plants in the soil or from nitrogenous fertilizers.

This is why farmers usually plant leguminous plants with other non leguminous plants such as grass plants, that the grass plants may benefit from the nitrogen fixed by the leguminous plants.
