In this method, a legume crop is sown between two successive cereal crops. Legume plants harbor rhizobium bacteria in their root nodules. These bacteria help the plants in nitrogen fixation in soil. Thus, growing a legume crop helps in replenishment of nutrients in soil.

Organisms carry out different functions such as reproduction, digestion, respiration, egestion, growth, movement and assimilation.

Reproduction - It is the most important function in the organisms that allow them to maintain their presence in the environment and also helps them to evolve.

Digestion - It is the process in which animals breakdown the food particles that they ate and then convert them into smaller one

Respiration - All of the organism do respiration in which they inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide in case of animals and vise versa for plants

Excretion - It is the removal of the nitrogenous waste from our body.

With the rapidly expanding population, the agricultural output also has to grow exponentially. We need to farm better and smarter. One of the things that will help us increase food production is better crop production and management.

Preparation of soil:- It is the first step of before growing of crop in which soil is     turned and loosen it. The   softening of soil allows the deep penetration of roots into soil. The soil preparation includes ploughing, leveling and manuring. Ploughing is done with the help of plough or tractor. Leveling is done by leveler to make loosen soil smaller the even.

Preparation of soil is the first step before growing a crop. One of the most important task in agriculture is to turn the soil and loozen it. This allows the roots to penetrate deep into the soil. The loose soil allows the roots to breathe easily even when they go deep into the soil.

In the face of the prevailing food crisis, the country was clearly vulnerable to external pressure and dependent on food aid, mainly from the USA. Which, in turn, pushed  India to change its economic policies. The government adopted a strategy for agriculture in order to ensure food sufficiency. Instead of the earlier policy of giving more support to the areas and farmers that were lagging behind, now it was decided to put  more resources into those areas which already had irrigation and those farmers who were already well off. It was argued that those who already had the capacity could help increase production rapidly in the short period. Thus, the government offered high-yielding variety seeds, fertilisers, pesticides and better irrigation at highly subsidised prices. The government also gave a guarantee to buy the produce of the farmers at a given price. This policy provided boost in agricultural production which is known green revolution.

The consequences of the Green Revolution were as given below :

Positive :
(a)There was moderate agricultural growth particulary in wheat production.

(b) It raised the availability of food in the country.

Negative :
(a)It had increased polarisation between classes and regions.

(b)The stark contrast between poor peasantry and the landlords produced conditions favourable for the left-wing organisations to organise the poor peasants.

Proper storage of food grains is important to protect against moisture, micro-organisms & insects.

Moisture favors the growth of spoilage bacteria. Therefore, food grains should be well dried before storage. If attacked by microbes/ insects, food grains might lose their capacity to germinate. They should be stored in metallic containers or jute bags. Neem leaves also prevent growth of microbes and insects as they contain alkaloids which repel pathogens.

Burning the stubs of a crop in the field is not the right technique for clearing up the field as it has a number of disadvantages. It results in air pollution and soil erosion. Also, fires can harm the nearby areas and people. Instead of burning the stubs of crops they must be collected and decomposed in a eco-friendly way to produce manure, which can be added again to the field to enhance its fertility.

Melting point of a solid is defined as the temperature at which a solid changes into a liquid. Melting point of a solid indicates the strength of the force of attraction between the particles of the solid. On heating a solid, its molecules absorb energy in the form of heat and their kinetic energy increases.
The boiling point is the temperature at which liquid and gas are in equilibrium. It is the temperature above which a liquid boils to a gas, or the temperature below which a gas condenses to a liquid. The boiling point of water at sea level is 100 °C.

Eyes are the sense organs which give us the sense of vision. The human eye is almost spherical in shape. Following are the main structures in the human eye.
Cornea: The eyeball is covered with a tough layer. This layer is transparent on the front. This transparent portion is called cornea.
Iris: Iris is a thin circular structure. It works like the shutter of a camera. It controls the amount of light entering the eye. The colour of iris imparts distinct colour to the eyes of an individual. A person with blue iris has blue eyes.
Pupil: There is a hole in the centre of iris. This is called pupil. Light enters the eye through the pupil. When the light is bright, iris contracts and thus allows less light into the eye. When the light is dim, iris dilates and thus allows more light into the eye.
Lens: Lens is present behind the pupil. The lens in the human eye is a convex lens. The size and thickness of the lens change as per the distance of an object.
Retina: Retina is at the back of the eye and marks the inner layer of the eyeball. Images are formed on the retina and thus it works like a screen. There are photosensitive cells in the retina.
Optic Nerve: The optic nerve emerges from the back of the eye ball. This nerve goes to the brain.
Blind Spot: The junction of retina and the optic nerve is called the blind spot. There is no photosensitive cell at this spot, and hence no image is formed at this spot on the retina.
