If there would no insects on Earth then we will not be no flowers no fruit. This is because pollination will not carried. The soil become infertile. We can't get honey.

When they died, then they settled on seabed. Then by sand they covered and high pressure and heat change then in form of hydrocarbon. Hydrocarbon is the long chain of hydrogen and carbon. E.g CH4, C2H6 etc. Most useful product of petroleum is petroleum gas, gasoline and naphtha, kerosene, light oil, heavy oil and residue.
