Upper layer of atmosphere

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 7 months ago

French Physicist Charles Fabry and Henri Buisson discovered ozone in the year 1913. Ozone layer/ shield is a region present in the stratosphere of the earth’s atmosphere and this region absorbs majority sun’s UV radiation. Mainly found in the lower region of stratosphere almost 20 to 30 kilometres above Earth.

  • Increasing and Reducing Friction:

Friction can be increased by the following methods:

  1. Grooves are made in the soles of shoes to increase friction and prevent slipping.
  2. Treads are made in the tyres of vehicles to increase friction and prevent skidding of vehicles on wet roads.
  3. Spikes are provided in the shoes of players and athletes to increase friction and prevent slipping.
  4. Gymnasts apply some coarse substance on their hands to increase friction for better grip.
  5. Machine belts are made of special materials to increase friction and drive machine wheels properly.

Methods of reducing friction:

  1. Friction can be reduced by making the surfaces smooth by polishing.
  2. Friction can be reduced by applying lubricants like oil or grease to the rubbing surfaces.
  3. Friction can be reduced by using wheels to move objects.
  4. Friction can be reduced by using by using ball bearings between the moving parts of machines.

A cloud is a visible mass of condensed water vapours floating in the atmosphere, high above the ground. A heavy, dark, rain cloud is called storm cloud. When a storm cloud develops in the sky, strong winds move upwards through the cloud and make the water drops present in the cloud to rub against one another which produces extremely large electric charges in the cloud due to friction. The small water drops acquire a positive charge and being lighter, move to the upper part of the cloud with rising wind. The larger water drops acquire negative charge, and being heavier, come down in the lower part of the cloud. When the magnitude of the accumulated charges becomes very large, the air which is a poor conductor of electricity, is no longer able to resist their flow. Negative and positive charges meet, producing streaks of bright light and sound. We see streaks as lightning. The process is called an electric discharge.Lightning usually occurs within a cloud in the sky called as ‘sheet lightning’. If lightning occurs between a cloud and the earth or tall objects of the earth, it is then called ‘fork lightning’.

Basically, the green house effect means warning of earth's environment when the sun's ray falls on earth.A part of radiation that falls on earth is absarbed by it and a part reflected back into space.green house gases CO2,SO2 present in the atmosphere trap radiation and do not allow heat to leave. This helps in keeping our planet worm

Usha Kumari 5 years, 7 months ago

The trapping of Sunrays by the green house gases like methane carbon dioxide, etc.they don't allow to get out these rays and this cause the increase in temperature of earth this process is known as green house effect

Twins are classified as either dizygotic or monozygotic. Dizygotic twins or fraternal twins arise from two separately fertilized eggs, or zygotes. In humans, usually only one egg is released at a time from a womans ovaries. When two are released, both may become fertilized by separate sperm and implant in the uterus. Dizygotic twins develop separate placentas and amniotic sacs. They may be of the same or different sexes. In the absence of reproductive technology interventions, dizygotic twinning occurs in approximately three of every thousand human births, a rate that increases with maternal age, varies with ethnic group, and is probably influenced by genes that control pituitary function. Various types of assisted reproductive technologies routinely create dizygotic twins, triplets, and higher numbers of offspring.

Monozygotic twins or identical twins arise from a single fertilized egg. At some point after the zygote begins to divide, the cell mass splits into two, creating two embryos from one. Monozygotic twinning occurs in approximately 0.25 percent of human births. Monozygotic twins are always of the same ***. If the cell mass splits before about day five after fertilization, the two embryos will develop with separate placentas and separate amniotic sacs. This occurs in about two-thirds of human monozygotic twins. Between day five and about day nine, splitting leads to two amniotic sacs but one placenta. This occurs in about one-third of Monozygotic twins. Twins that split after day nine will share the amniotic sac. Splitting that late also increases the likelihood that the twins will not separate completely and will develop into conjoined twins.

Meghna Thapar 5 years, 7 months ago

Metals are good conductors of heat and electricity. This means they allow heat and electricity to pass through them easily. Copper, gold, iron, silver, aluminium, etc. are all metals which are good conductors of heat that is why we cannot hold a hot utensil without a plastic or a wooden handle.

It helps to read alphabate by touching it also helps them to write and read from the braille script this machine was by Louis Braille in 1821 for the help of blind people

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 7 months ago

Some persons could be visually handicapped. They could be born with no or poor eyesight, or in some cases, they would have lost their eyesight due to an accident or a disease. But these people, use other sensory organs like touch, hearing, speech to identify, listen, talk and communicate. They could be either Non-optical aids(Hearing Aids, Braille Kit, Audio cassettes/CDs etc) or Optical Aids (Lenses Spectacles,  Bifocals). The Braille is the most commonly used by blind to read.

The Braille script is an alphabet set used by the blind for reading and writing. Each Braille character is made up of a combination of 6 dots arranged in a matrix form. A dot may be raised or flat and the blind touch and feel these combinations of raised and flat dots to encode the alphabets.

This system was developed by Louis Braille, a visually handicapped person in 1821.
