| Physical Change | Chemical Change |
| When a substance undergoes a physical change, its composition remains the same despite its molecules being rearranged. | When a substance undergoes a chemical change, its molecular composition is changed entirely. Thus, chemical changes involve the formation of new substances. |
| Physical change is a temporary change. | A chemical change is a permanent change. |
| A Physical change affects only physical properties i.e. shape, size, etc. | Chemical change both physical and chemical properties of the substance including its composition |
| A physical change involves very little to no absorption of energy. | During a chemical reaction, absorption and evolution of energy take place. |
| Some examples of physical change are freezing of water, melting of wax, boiling of water, etc. | A few examples of chemical change are digestion of food, burning of coal, rusting, etc. |
| Generally, physical changes do not involve the production of energy. | Chemical changes usually involve the production of energy (which can be in the form of heat, light, sound, etc.) |

- There are certain organisms that lives together and provides food and shelter to each other. This kind of nutrition is known as symbiotic relationship.
- This kind of relationship is very important for plants because there are certain microorganisms like fungi that lives in the rootsof trees and absorb the nutrients from The fungi in turn help the plants to absorb water and nutrientsfrom the soil required for the proper growth of plants.
- An example is lichens where a symbiotic relation exists between the alga and fungus.

Galvanization is the process of applying a protective zinc coating to steel or iron, to prevent rusting. The most common method is hot-dip galvanization, in which parts are submerged in a bath of molten zinc.
Galvanizing protects in two ways:
- it forms a coating of corrosion-resistant zinc which prevents corrosive substances from reaching the more delicate part of the metal.
- the zinc serves as a sacrificial anode so that even if the coating is scratched, the exposed steel will still be protected by the remaining zinc.

Usually sheep farming is defined as 'rearing sheep commercially for the purpose of meat, milk and wool production. ' It is among the traditional occupations and business of the people of some countries around the world. Rearing of sheep means to look after the sheep by providing them food, shelter and health care. breeding is done to obtain animals with desired characters. (i) Rearing: The process of keeping, feeding, breeding and medical care of useful animals is called rearing of animals. These animals produce one or more useful products for human beings. (ii) Shearing: The process of removing the fleece of the sheep along with a thin layer of skin is called shearing.

- The process by which plants make their own food in the presence of sunlight, carbon-dioxide present in air, water, minerals and chlorophyll present in leaves is termed as photosynthesis.

- Plants take up carbon-dioxide from the atmosphere through the tiny pores known as stomata present on thesurface of the leaves and surrounded by ‘guard cells’.
- The process of photosynthesis releases oxygen in the atmosphere during the synthesis of food.
- Plants absorb the water and minerals from the soil with the help of deep penetrated roots inside the soil and transport them to the leaves of the plants where synthesis of food takes place.
- The green pigment present in leaves known as chlorophyll helps the leaves of plant to capture the sunlight that act as the source of energy to carry out the process.
- After this the chlorophyll holding the cells of leaves in the presence of sunlight, carbon dioxide and water to produce carbohydrates in the leaves and is stored in the plants in the form of energy.

The protection of iron and steel from corrosion by coating with molten zinc. has been proved for a hundred and fifty years. This is called galvanizing. The zinc coating protects from the atmosphere the part’s surface, avoiding corrosion and weathering.
Galvanization helps extend the life of steel parts by forming a membrane between the metal and the air, preventing the accumulation of iron oxide on the steel layer. Galvanization also offers superior corrosion resistance to environmentally exposed parts.
The galvanizing process consists of three basic steps, namely surface preparation, fluxing and galvanizing. Material is loaded onto jigs before being immersed in molten zinc at about 450 degrees until the working temperature is the same as zinc. During this process, the molten zinc reacts to a series of zinc/iron alloys with the steel surface.

Perfect balance is important between natural and Human environment because:
a. Human beings are dependent on environment for their very existence so it is important to maintain a perfect harmony between human and natural environment.
b. Environment is the basic life support system.
c. It is the environment which provides us the air that we breathe, water we drink, land where we live and food we eat.
d. Human beings make use of plants which provides raw materials and is the main source of food. Human beings use forest for timber, for wood and other natural resources like minerals for their very survival
e.Natural environment is important as it serves as the basic life support systems - air, water, soil.
f. Plants, forest cover play a major role in enhancing the qulaity of environment. They modify the local climate, control soil erosion, provide products which have medicinal value, forests provide shelter to many communities, it is source of livelihood for many communities.
g. It is important to have a perfect harmony as it maintains balance of nature.
h. If this balance is disturbed by human activities like deforestation, industrialisation it will lead to climatic changes, melting of glaciers, rising sea levels.
i. It will lead to extinction of species of plants and animals.

Animals are adapted to the conditions in which they live. These adaptations are because of long process of evolution.
It would be difficult for them to survive if they are moved to region having different climate conditions than from their habitat.
Consider the following examples:
- A polar bear has thick layer of fat under their skin which acts heat insulator. It protects the bear from extreme cold climate of polar region.
- The polar bear cannot survive if it is moved to hot and dry desert region.
