pulmonary artery is classified as an "artery" because it leads away from the heart, and because its anatomy is that of an artery, enabling it to withstand the high pressure. The same principle applies to the classification of a pulmonary vein. Although it carries oxygenated blood, anatomically it's a vein.

When two elements combine to form a compound, the properties of the compound formed are different from the properties of parent elements. Therefore, though hydrogen is combustible & oxygen helps combustion, the water helps to extinguish the fire. Here, hydrogen and oxygen help combustion but their compound reduces combustion.

Just like eating, sleep is necessary for survival. Sleep gives your body a rest and allows it to prepare for the next day. It's like giving your body a mini-vacation. Sleep also gives your brain a chance to sort things out.

- Transpiration is the loss of water in the form of water vapour from the aerial parts of a plant.
- It occurs through openings called stomata.
- Water loss through evaporation lowers the concentration of water inside the mesophyll cells.
- Due to this, water enters mesophyll cells from neighbouring xylem vessels through osmosis.
- As water evaporates from the leaves, a suction force is created. This force helps to draw more water up through the stem which causes the roots to absorb more water from the soil.
- Higher the rate of transpiration, greater the rate of absorption of water and solutes from the soil.
- Transpiration also helps in maintaining the temperature of the plant body.

Wild elephants will eat as many as 200 plant species during the course of a year, but their preferred staple food is grass and bamboo (which is a kind of grass). Elephants also eat lianas, wild palms, wild bananas, various shrubs, the leaves and bark of certain trees, and even plants that serve as herbs. Three species of elephants are recognised; the African bush elephant (Loxodonta africana) and forest elephant (Loxodonta cyclotis) of sub-Saharan Africa, and the Asian elephant (Elephas maximus) of South and Southeast Asia.

Earthworms and their relatives live anywhere there is moist soil and dead plant material. Earthworms are most abundant in rainy forest areas, but can be found in many habitats on land and in freshwater. All earthworm species need moist soil conditions to survive. They may live up to eight years, though one to two is more likely. Full size for an earthworm varies among species, ranging from less than half an inch long to nearly 10 feet. Worms help to increase the amount of air and water that gets into the soil. They break down organic matter, like leaves and grass into things that plants can use. When they eat, they leave behind castings that are a very valuable type of fertilizer. Earthworms are like free farm help.
