Physical Change | Chemical Change |
When a substance undergoes a physical change, its composition remains the same despite its molecules being rearranged. | When a substance undergoes a chemical change, its molecular composition is changed entirely. Thus, chemical changes involve the formation of new substances. |
Physical change is a temporary change. | A chemical change is a permanent change. |
A Physical change affects only physical properties i.e. shape, size, etc. | Chemical change both physical and chemical properties of the substance including its composition |
A physical change involves very little to no absorption of energy. | During a chemical reaction, absorption and evolution of energy take place. |
Some examples of physical change are freezing of water, melting of wax, boiling of water, etc. | A few examples of chemical change are digestion of food, burning of coal, rusting, etc. |
Generally, physical changes do not involve the production of energy. | Chemical changes usually involve the production of energy (which can be in the form of heat, light, sound, etc.) |
In a physical change, no new substance is formed. | A chemical change is always accompanied by one or more new substance(s). |
Physical change is easily reversible i.e original substance can be recovered. | Chemical changes are irreversible i.e. original substance cannot be recovered. |

Aerobic Respiration:
- It occurs in majority of organisms.
- Oxygen is used.
- It always releases CO2.
- Itgenerated water.
- Itreleases entire energy available in glucose as it is fully oxidized.
- Aerobic respiration involves five principal steps: glycolysis, pyruvate oxidation, TCA cycle, ETS and chemiosmotic ATP synthesis.
- Ityields inorganic end products.
- Aerobic reparation takes place in cytoplasm and mitochondria.
Anaerobic Respiration:
- It occurs in a few organisms (e.g. yeast, and some bacteria and parasitic worms).
- Oxygen is not used.
- It may or may not release CO2.
- It does not produce water.
- It releases only 5% of energy available in glucose as it (glucose) is not fully oxidized.
- It includes just two steps: glycolysis and incomplete breakdown of pyruvate.
- In yields organic end product with or without inorganic ones.
- Anaerobic respiration takes place cytoplasm only.

Convex lenses form a real image | Concave lenses form a virtual image |
Real images are formed on the screen | Virtual images appear to be on the lens or the mirror itself |
Real images are formed by a concave mirror | Convex mirror form a virtual image |

Extreme climates require moderate adaptations. This is less contradictive than the words might imply, because evolution and adaptation do not DO extremes! Animals in the Arctic generally use the simple expedient of taking to the water, which is, of course, warmer that the ice which is in turn warmer than the sub-zero air! Polar bears and seals have a layer of fat for insulation, and polar bears’ skin is actually black, to absorb as much warmth as possible or radiate it away, when necessary. Antarctic life is ALL aquatic, although Penguins spend their egg-brooding periods ashore.
