Amoeba is an important protozoa found in fresh water. It feeds on microscopic plants and animals present in water. The mode of nutrition in amoeba is Holozoic. And the process of obtaining food by amoeba is called phagocytosis. The different processes involved in the nutrition of amoeba are:
1. Ingestion: Ingestion is the process of taking food in the body.
2. Digestion: Digestion is the process of breaking the large and insoluble molecules in small and water soluble molecules.
3. Absorption: The food digested by digestive enzymes is then absorbed in the cytoplasm by the process of diffusion.
4. Assimilation: During this step the food absorbed by the cytoplasm is used to obtain energy, growth and repair. This process of utilizing absorbed food for obtaining energy, repair and growth is called assimilation.
5. Egestion: When a sufficient amount of undigested food gets collected in the food vacuole, it is thrown out of the body by rupturing cell membrane. The process of removal of undigested food from the body is called egestion.

Parasites are an incredibly varied group of organisms that live within host cells. They are smaller than their host organism and reproduces faster by causing more damage to the host. They receive all sort of benefits like food and shelter from the host. Their size ranges from tiny, single-celled organisms to worms over 20- 30 m in length.
For example- Tapeworms. They are flat, segmented worms, live in the intestines of animals by absorbing the host’s nutrients.

Autotrophic Nutrition: Auto means self and trophos means nourishment. Plants are called autotrophs because they make their food themselves. The making of food for themselves is called the Autotrophic nutrition. Autotrophic nutrition is found in green plants, and in some bacteria.
Heterotrophic Nutrition: The word Heterotrophic is the combination of two words i.e. Hetero + Trophos. Hetero means ‘others’ and ‘trophos’ means nourishment. If organisms depend on others for their food, such a mode of nutrition is called Hetetrophic Nutrition. Animals cannot make their food themselves. They depend for food upon plants.
Saprotrophic Nutrition: The uptake of nutrients by organism from dead and decaying matter in the form of solution is called the saprotrophic nutrition. The organisms which use saprotrophic mode of nutrition are called saprotrophs. For example: fungi.

  • Plants prepare their food by using raw materials like water, carbon dioxide and minerals.
  • The process of utilization of food by a living organism to obtain energy is called nutrition.
  • There are two modes of nutrition

  • Autotrophs or Autotrophic: - In this mode of nutrition organisms make their food themselves from simple substances. All green plants are Autotrophs (Auto means self and trophos means nourishment)
  • Heterotrophs or heterophobic: - Heterotrophic organisms are those who obtain food from other organisms. Since these organisms depend on other organisms for their food, they are called consumers. All animals and non-green plants like fungi come under this category.

The main reason why aircraft are painted white or light colours is to reflect sunlight and minimise both the heating and any potential damage from solar radiation. It helps in easier inspection of cracks and dents on the fuselage and is also cost-effective. White planes also tend to have a higher resale value than colored ones. So, colour of plane is white.
