Substance which are neither acidic nor basic are called neutral. Distilled water is neutral in character, i.e. it is neither acidic nor basic. Neutral nature of distilled water can be verified by the use of blue and red litmus paper. Distilled water does not change the colour of either blue or red litmus paper.

A push or pull on an object is called force.
- At least two objects need to interact for force to come into play. Mutual interaction between two objects results in a force between the two objects.
- When two forces are applied on an object in the same direction, there is an add-on effect of both forces.
- When two forces are applied in opposite directions, the difference between two forces gives the value of the net force.

- Transfer of heat from one particle to the adjacent particle is known as conduction of heat. Example: When one end of an iron rod is put over flame then part which is nearer to the flame is heated first and heat is gradually transferred to the other end of the rod.
- The transfer of heat because of movement of the molecules of the medium; via mass transfer; is called convection or convection of heat. Example: When water is heated in a pan, the particles of water which are near the source of heat; get heated first.

Fast moving air towards a centre; usually with heavy rain; is known as cyclone. Wind direction, wind speed, humidity and temperature together create cyclone.
Before the formation of clouds, water takes up heat from the atmosphere to change into vapour. When water vapour changes back to water form as raindrops, this heat released to the atmosphere warms the air around. The air tends to rise and causes a drop in pressure. More air rushes to the centre of the storm. This cycle is repeated. The chain of events ends with the formation of a very low pressure system with very high speed winds revolving around it. It is this weather condition that we call a cyclone. The factors like wind speed, wind direction, temperature and humidity contribute to the development of a cyclone.

Spore formation is one form of asexual reproduction. Spore formation is the method of developing new individuals by forming reproductive structures called spores.
*A spore is a small spherical or oval structure which protects the future individual in a thick protective covering.
*Spore germinates on a substratum under favourable conditions.
*Some organisms like ferns, some groups of fungi reproduce by spore formation.
E.g.Fungus reproduces by means of spores. Fungus like bread mould produce spores which germinate on moist organic surfaces. The cottony white mass on bread formed by fungus after spore germination is called a mould. Spores can survive in extreme conditions because of the protective hard coat.
