Atmospheric pressure is an indicator of weather. When a low-pressure system moves into an area, it usually leads to cloudiness, wind, and precipitation. High-pressure systems usually lead to fair, calm weather. A barometer measures atmospheric pressure, which is also called barometric pressure.

An electric bulb is a device which produces light when electricity is passed through its terminals.
- The bulb has two thick contact wires in the center with a thin wire attached between them. This thin wire is called filament.
- One of the thick wires is connected to the metal case at the base of the bulb and the other is connected to the metal tip at the center of the base. These two form the terminals.
- When electricity is passed through the terminals of the bulb, the filament gets heated up and produces light.
- A bulb is said to be fused if the filament gets broken. Fused bulb doesn’t glow.
- The two terminals do not directly touch each other to avoid short circuit.

Xylem- It consists of tracheids, vessels, xylem parenchyma and xylem fibres.Tracheids and vessels are hollow tube-like structures that help in conducting water and minerals. The xylem conducts only in one direction i.e vertically. The xylem parenchyma is responsible for storing the prepared food and assists in the conduction of water. Xylem fibres are supportive in function.
Phloem- It consists of four of elements: sieve tubes, companion cells, phloem fibres and the phloem parenchyma. Unlike the xylem, phloem conducts in both directions. It is responsible for transporting food from the leaves to the other parts of the plant. Phloem contains living tissues except for fibres that are dead tissues.

Soil types: The soil is classified on the basis of the proportion of particles of various sizes. The sizes of the particles in a soil have a very important influence on its properties. There are mainly three basic types of soils. These are:
i. Sandy soil: If soil contains greater proportion of big particles it is called sandy soil. This soil contains very little humus and it is found in desert areas.
ii. Clayey soil: If the proportion of fine particles is relatively higher, then it is called clayey soil. It contains mainly clay and very less humus.
iii. Loamy soil: If the amount of large and fine particles is about the same, then the soil is called loamy. It is a mixture of sand, clay, silt and humus in correct proportion.
Properties of soil: The important properties of soil are:
- Soil contains air: The bubbles are of the air which was present in spaces between the soil particles.
- Soil contains water or moisture: Water is always present as a thin film around the soil particles. It is absorbed through the roots of the plants.
- Soil allows water to percolate: The process in which water passes down slowly through the soil is called percolation of water. The rate of percolation depends on the different type of soils.

Water table: The upper limit of depth of the ground water is called ‘water table’
Water drawn from under the ground gets replenished by seepage of rainwater.
The water table will have no affect as long as we draw as much water as is replenished by natural processes.
Water table may go down if the water is not sufficiently replenished which happens mainly due to many reasons. Increases in population, industrial and Agricultural usage are the common factors affecting water table.
