Electrostatic forces can play an important role in pollination mediated by both wind and animal vectors. Because of a gradient in electrical potential between pollen and floral structures, charged pollen carried by the wind can settle more effectively on the stigma than can uncharged pollen. Similarly, electrical charge carried by insects may be sufficient to increase the number of pollen grains transferred to their bodies during floral visits. For example, placing a charged metal model or an actual tethered insect close to a grounded source of pollen grain can induce attraction, and presumably increase the likelihood of subsequent pollen transfer by an insect to another flower. These electrostatic means of pollination are currently being explored for agricultural applications.

- The process by which plants make their own food in the presence of sunlight, carbon-dioxide present in air, water, minerals and chlorophyll present in leaves is termed as photosynthesis.
- Plants take up carbon-dioxide from the atmosphere through the tiny pores known as stomata present on thesurface of the leaves and surrounded by ‘guard cells’.
- The process of photosynthesis releases oxygen in the atmosphere during the synthesis of food.
- Plants absorb the water and minerals from the soil with the help of deep penetrated roots inside the soil and transport them to the leaves of the plants where synthesis of food takes place.

| Cross pollination | Self-pollination |
| Cross pollination is the transfer of pollen grains from the anther of a flower to the stigma of a flower of a different plant of the same species | Self-pollination is the transfer of pollen grains from the anther to the stigma of the same flower |
| Wind, insects, water, animals, etc. acts as agents for this pollination | Shed pollen directly onto stigma of the flower. |
| Cross pollination is advantageous because it allows for diversity in the species, as the genetic information of different plants is combined. However, it relies on the existence of pollinators that will travel from plant to plant. | Self-pollination leads to more uniform progeny, meaning that the species is, for example, less resistant as a whole to disease. However, it does not need to expend energy on attracting pollinators and can spread beyond areas where suitable pollinators can be found. |

Human health and environment are mainly affected by direct disposal of industrial and human effluents into the natural resources without any treatment. The sewage treatment is necessary to reduce the toxicity of sewage and maintain a safe and healthy environment, as well as promote human welfare. Sewage contains a huge amount of organic matters which are toxic. Microorganisms are widely used in the sewage treatment plant for removing this toxic organic matter.

Amoeba is a microscopic single-celled organism found in pond water which has a cell membrane, a round, dense nucleus and many bubble like vacuoles. The shape of amoeba is variable. It has tiny finger like projections called pseudopodia or false feet for movement and capture of food. It eats tiny organisms by spreading out its pseudopodia around its food particle and then engulfing it.

Hans Christian Oersted (1777 – 1851) was the first to show that electric current also produces magnetic effect. He kept a magnetic compass near a current carrying conductor. It was observed that the magnetic compass shows deflection, when the current passes through the conductor.

Food chain : A food chain describes the feeding relationships of different organisms in a linear fashion. This is the simplest way of showing feeding relationships.
Food web : A food web shows multiple food chains, multiple relationships and connections. This a more complicated but more realistic way of showing feeding relationships, as most organisms consume more than one species and are consumed by more than one species.
