Forests are called the green lungs of nature as they release oxygen during the process of photosynthesis. This oxygen is used up by animals including man for respiration. Thus forests maintain balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

A forest has different types of plants like herbs, shrubs and trees. It also has many type of tall grasses, canes, creepers and climbers.

When an electric current flows through the coils, the rods become magnetic and attract a piece of iron attached to a clapper. The clapper hits the bell and makes it ring. An electric bell's electromagnet is activated by an electric current passing through the coils of wire.

Measuring distance is more difficult than time because time travels only in one direction and you easily measure the time elapsed if you know the timing of the starting and ending event while distance travelled by a body depends on actual path travelled by the body and precise location of body at every instant of time required to measure it's distance travelled.

A spherical mirror is a mirror which has the shape of a piece cut out of a spherical surface. There are two types of spherical mirrors i.e. concave mirrors and convex mirrors.

The concave mirror is that mirror in which reflection of light takes place at the concave surface like the mirror whose reflecting surface is bent inward is a concave mirror. The concave mirror is a converging mirror. The focus of a concave mirror is a point in front of the mirror at which parallel rays of light converge after reflection from the concave mirror.

The convex mirror is that mirror in which reflection of light takes place at the convex surface like the mirror whose reflecting surface is bulging outward is a convex mirror. The convex mirror is a diverging mirror. The focus of a convex mirror is a point behind the mirror from which parallel rays of light falling on convex mirror appear to diverge after reflection from convex mirror. Convex mirrors are used as rear view mirrors or side view mirrors in vehicles to see the traffic at the rear side on the road. The big convex mirrors are used as shop security mirrors.

Anaerobic respiration takes place in human muscles during vigorous physical exercise because oxygen gets used up faster in the muscle cells than can be supplied by the blood. The end-products of anaerobic respiration in muscles of human beings is lactic acid and in yeast cells, ethanol and carbon dioxide are released. Carbon dioxide and water are released during aerobic respiration. Large amount of energy is released in aerobic respiration as compared to anaerobic respiration.

Percolation rate (mL/min) = Amount of water in mL/Time taken to percolate
The process in which water passes down slowly through the soil is called percolation of water. The rate of percolation depends on the different type of soils. It is highest in sandy soil and lowest in clayey soil. It is moderate in loamy soil.

The electric fuse works on the principle of the heating effect of electric current. An electric fuse is a safety device to prevent damage to an electrical circuit when excessive current flows through it. It is made of a special material. As the current increases beyond a limit, the wire in the electric fuse melts and breaks off. The fuse is then said to have blown off. The circuit is broken and current stops flowing through it. Thus, a fuse prevents fires.

The different methods of asexual reproduction:

Vegetative propagation- It is a type of asexual reproduction in which new plants are produced from roots, stems, leaves and buds.
Budding- In organisms such as Hydra, a bud develops as an outgrowth at one specific site. These buds develop into tiny individuals and when fully mature, detach from the parent body and become new independent individuals.
Spore formation- The spores are asexual reproductive bodies. Each spore is covered by a hard protective coat to withstand unfavourable conditions such as high temperature and low humidity. So they can survive for a long time. Under favourable conditions, a spore germinates and develops into a new individual.

Transport of materials is necessary in both plants and animals as every cell needs a regular supply of nutrients and oxygen for releasing energy through respiration. The food that we eat is broken down into smaller components to be absorbed by the cells. The oxygen that we inhale is also transported to all the cells of the body. Our body also requires a constant removal of waste from the body.

If there is any cut so blood will flow on and it will not stop and the person will die ultimately.

A blood clot is formed because of platelets. They release blood clotting chemicals at the site of injury. These chemicals form a clot and prevent further bleeding. If there are no platelets in the blood, then the blood would not be able to clot.
