The process of photosynthesis takes place in the green leaves of a plant. The carbon dioxide gas required for making food is taken by the plant leaves from the air which enters the leaves through tiny pores called stomata. Water required for making food is taken from the soil which is transported to the leaves from the soil through the roots and the stem. The sunlight provides energy required to carry out the chemical reactions involved in the preparation of food. The green pigment called chlorophyll absorbs sunlight energy.

The destruction caused by a cyclone
-
Cyclone can result in extremely high waves in the sea or ocean because of the low pressure. These waves can be 3 to 12m high.
-
When these high waves hit the shore it results in the destruction of life and property to a great extent.
-
The soil of the area also loses its fertility after a cyclone.
-
Floods can appear if rainfall continues for a longer duration.
-
High-speed winds in the cyclone affect the telephonic communication lines, uproot trees, damage houses and cause loss of life.

b. To protect human life- It protects human life from shock which is a cause of unconsciousness and death.
c. To protect our property from fire- In electric circuits the main reason of fire is over current and short circuit current. Fuse helps to stop the current when he exceeded from its limit value.

Fish take in oxygen-rich water through their mouths and pump it over their gills. As water passes over the gill filaments, blood inside the capillary network picks up the dissolved oxygen. The circulatory system then transports the oxygen to all body tissues and ultimately to the cells. While picking up carbon dioxide, which is removed from the body through the gills. After the water flows through the gills, it exits the body of the fish through the openings in the sides of the throat or through the operculum, a flap, usually found in bony fish, that covers and protects the fish gills.

A Cyclone is a large scale air mass that rotates around strong centers of low pressure.
- Water vapors are formed when water is heated.
- This heat is released to atmosphere when water vapors convert to water during rains.
- The heat released, warms the air around and makes it to move up. This also results in decreased air pressure.
- Hence, cooler air from surrounding rushes to take the warm air’s place.
- This repeats till a low pressure system with surrounding high speed winds is created. This is called a Cyclone.
- Cyclone depends on wind speed, direction, temperature and humidity.
Cyclones are also called Hurricane in USA and Typhoon in Japan and Philippines
Structure of Cyclone The structure of cyclone contains:
- Eye – Low pressure and area of sinking air. Its diameter ranges from 10-100 kms.
- Eye Wall – Dense cloud surrounding eye having maximum wind speed. It causes maximum destruction.
Spiral rain bands – Band of clouds spiraling into eye wall and it contains heavy rains
