Water vapor: We know that water present in oceans and rivers evaporates during summer and escapes into the air. Thus water vapor is one of the components of the air. It occupies very less percentage of earth’s atmosphere.
Oxygen: Have you ever tried to burn a candle in absence of air? If you would try you would notice that it doesn’t burn in absence of air. Air contains some matter which supports combustion. This substance is oxygen. Oxygen is one of the major components of air around us. Air comprises almost 21% oxygen.
Nitrogen: When you blow over a burning candle you notice that it extinguishes. This means air contains incombustible gases (gases which don’t support combustion) too. This is majorly due to the presence of nitrogen. Nitrogen occupies nearly 78% of earth’s atmosphere and is the most abundant gas on our planet.
Carbon dioxide: Carbon dioxide is mainly produced due to respiration by plants and animals or burning of fuel. It occupies 0.038% of the earth’s atmosphere. Its occupancy keeps on changing from one place to another in our atmosphere.
Smoke and dust particles: Smoke is present in our atmosphere due to the burning of fuels. Its occupancy varies from place to place. It is a mixture of gases and is often harmful. Apart from these, dust particles are also present in our atmosphere which we observe when we see a ray of light in a dark room. Smoke and dust particles occupy less than 1% of earth’s atmosphere.

Photosynthesis
- The process by which plants make their own food in the presence of sunlight, carbon-dioxide present in air, water, minerals and chlorophyll present in leaves is termed as photosynthesis
- Plants take up carbon-dioxide from the atmosphere through the tiny pores known as stomata present on thesurface of the leaves and surrounded by ‘guard cells’.
- The process of photosynthesis releases oxygen in the atmosphere during the synthesis of food.

A bacterium in our mouths called Streptococcus mutans converts sugar to lactic acid, which eats tooth enamel. Acidic drinks eat away at your tooth enamel, the outer layer of your teeth. This erosion puts your smile at risk of cavities. As the enamel erodes, you may experience tooth sensitivity, be prone to cavities and even experience some discoloration.

Green plants make their food themselves. Green leaves make food from Carbon dioxide and water in the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll.
Leaves have several tiny pore-like structures on the lower surface. Such a pore is called stomata through which leaves absorb carbon dioxide from air. Water is transported to the leaves through hair like pipelines from the roots. These pipelines are present throughout the plant, i.e. from roots to branches and leaves. These pipe-lines are known as Xylem. Xylem is a type of tissue. Chlorophyll, a green pigment, is found in green leaves. Chlorophyll absorbs sunlight and gives energy. Chloroplast is the site of photosynthesis. Carbohydrate is used as food and oxygen is emitted out to atmosphere. This whole process of making food by plants is called photosynthesis.

Tooth decay is the softening of your tooth enamel and refers to the damage of the structure of the tooth caused by acids that are created when plaque bacteria break down sugar in your mouth. If this loss of mineral from the enamel is left untreated, a cavity, or hole in the tooth, can eventually occur. Without treatment, these holes can grow larger over time and may even destroy the whole tooth. While most people don’t like to think about it, bacteria naturally live in your mouth. When these bacteria digest the carbohydrates that linger on your teeth and in your mouth, acid forms.
