The difference between multiprocessing and multi programming is that Multiprocessing is basically executing multiple processes at the same time on multiple processors, whereas multi programming is keeping several programs in main memory and executing them concurrently using a single CPU only. Sharing the processor, when two or more programs reside in memory at the same time, is referred as multiprogramming. Multiprogramming assumes a single shared processor. Multiprogramming increases CPU utilization by organizing jobs so that the CPU always has one to execute.

GPS stands for Global Positioning System. It is a radio navigation system that is used in land, sea, and air to determine the exact location, time and velocity irrespective of weather conditions. It was first used by the US military in the year 1960.
GPS is a system and it is made up of three parts: satellites, ground stations, and receivers. Following are the functionalities of each of these parts:
- Satellites act like the stars in constellations, and we know where they are because they invariably send out signals.
- The ground stations make use of the radar to make sure the satellites are actually where we think they are.
- A receiver is a device that you might find in your phone or in your car and it constantly seeks for the signals from the satellites. The receiver figures out how far away they are from some of them. Once the receiver calculates its distance from four or more satellites, it knows exactly where you are.

The operating system acts as an interface between the hardware and the programs requesting I/O. It is the most fundamental of all system software programs.
Responsibilities of the OS include:
Hiding the complexities of hardware from the user.
Managing between the hardware's resources which include the processors, memory, data storage and I/O devices.
Handling "interrupts" generated by the I/O controllers.
Sharing of I/O between many programs using the CPU.
There are two types of software:
System Software - programs that manage the operation of a computer.
Application Software - programs that help the user perform a particular task.

The left pane shows you your drives and folders. This layout is called a tree, as it closely resembles a tree with all of the 'branches'. To the left of each of the drives is a small [+] symbol. Using the mouse and clicking on this symbol will show you all the folders that are stored on that particular drive.
