The stems of many aquatic plant have large air-filled areas to increase buoyancy. Many fruits of aquatic plants float on water, which increases dispersal as fruits and seeds float away.

The following evidence of burials suggest some differences in status amongst the people:
- In Brahmagiri, one skeleton was buried with 33 gold beads, 2 stone beads, 4 copper bangles, and one conch shell while other skeletons had only a few pots.
- Archaeologists found more objects in one grave than in another. Such an uneven pattern of burials suggests that there was some difference in status amongst the people who were buried.
- There were different burial sites for males and females. The graves of females were found with lots of jewellery than males.
- The skeletons of adults and children can be differentiated easily.
