Advantages of SI system of units are:
(i) SI is coherent system of units, i.e., a system based on certain set of fundamental units.
(ii) SI is rational system of units. i.e., it assigns only one unit to a particular physical quantity.
(iii) SI is metric system, i.e., multiples and sub-multiples of the system can be expressed as a power of 10.
(iv) SI is internationally accepted system of units.

The sea water is first collected and it is kept for evaporation.When the water is fully evaporated the salt remains.By this way salt is obtained from sea water.

As a biggest reason about this is earth is having sufficient water in sea's and oceans but they cannot be used for drinking and a lots of water is also stored in form of glaciers and very few amount of fresh water is available for drinking .
