Whole numbers include natural numbers that begin from 1 onwards. Whole numbers include positive integers along with 0. There is no 'largest' whole number. Except 0, every whole number has an immediate predecessor or a number that comes before. So, 1 is the smallest natural number and 0 is the smallest whole number. But there is no largest whole number or natural number because each number has its successor.

A square root of a number is a value that, when multiplied by itself, gives the number. Example: 4 × 4 = 16, so a square root of 16 is 4. Note that (−4) × (−4) = 16 too, so −4 is also a square root of 16. The symbol is √ which always means the positive square root. Therefore, it is a root of the equation , where is the number to which we have to find power half.
