Periodic motion are those motion which repeats after a fixed interval of time. For example: motion of swing of a pendulum, motion of satellite orbiting the Earth. A motion which is repeated but not after a fixed interval of time is not periodic. For example: jumping in place, clapping etc.

यह पंक्तियाँ तुलसीदास द्वारा रचित ग्रंथ से लिए गए हैं| जब राम को चौदह वर्षों का वनवास मिला तब राम, लक्ष्मण और सीता जी को जंगल की और निकलना पड़ा|
कवि कहते हैं राम की पत्नी सीताजी नगर से वन के मार्ग में बहुत धैर्य धारण करके निकली। वन के मार्ग में अभी वह केवल दो कदम ही चली थीं कि उनके माथे पर पसीने की बूंदें झलकने लगीं। उनके मधुर होंठ भी सूख गए। उसके बाद उन्होंने श्री राम से पूछा कि अभी कितनी दूर और चलना है? आप पत्तों वाली कुटिया कहाँ बनाएँगे?पत्नी सीता जी की यह व्याकुलता देखकर श्रीराम की सुन्दर आँखों से आँसू बहने लगे|
सीताजी श्री राम से कहती हैं कि जल लाने गए लक्ष्मण तो बालक ही हैं, उन्हें समय लग जाएगा। उनके आने तक आप छाया में कुछ देर खड़े होकर उनकी प्रतीक्षा कर लीजिए। मैं आपके पसीने को पोंछकर हवा कर देती हूँ। मैं आपके गरम रेत से तपे हुए चरणों को भी धो देती हूँ। तुलसीदास जी कहते हैं कि अपनी पत्नी के ऐसे वचनों को सुनकर और सीताजी की व्याकुलता देखकर श्री रामचंद्र बैठकर बहुत देर तक उनके पाँवों से गड़े काँटों को निकालते रहे। राम के इस प्रेम को देखकर उनका शरीर रोमांचित हो गया और आँखों में आँसू भर आए।
