Climate is responsible because it affects the time of weathering of rocks. Temperature plays a significant role because it causes shrinking, swelling, and frost action, which allows small stones to breaks. Scientists attribute soil formation to the following factors: Parent material, climate, biota (organisms), topography and time.

The two criterias are :-

(i) On the basis of per capita income :- In World Development Report 2006, brought out by the World Bank, this criterion is used for classifying countries. Countries with per capita income of Rs. 4,53,000 per annum and above in 2004, are called rich countries and those with per capita income of Rs. 37,000 or less are called low-income countries.

(ii) On the basis of Human Development Index :- According to this criteria the countries are ranked on the basis of life expectancy, literacy rate and health status etc.

UNDP is the organisation which use these tools.

What is the difference between a star and a planet? A star is a celestial body that produces its own light due to a reaction at its core. There are millions of stars. On the other hand, a planet is a celestial body that has a fixed course, otherwise known as an orbit. The orbit is the pathway that allows the planet to move around a star.

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 1 month ago

On 21st March and September 23rd, direct rays of the sun fall on the equator. At this position, neither of the poles is tilted towards the sun. Therefore, the entire earth experiences equal days and equal nights. This phenomenon is called an equinox.

Map scale refers to the relationship (or ratio) between distance on a map and the corresponding distance on the ground. For example, on a 1:100000 scale map, 1cm on the map equals 1km on the ground.

Map scale is often confused or interpreted incorrectly, perhaps because the smaller the map scale, the larger the reference number and vice versa. For example, a 1:100000 scale map is considered a larger scale than a 1:250000 scale map.

About 2000 years ago, there was a famous physician named Charaka who wrote a book on medicine known as the Charaka Samhita. There he states that the human body has 360 bones. This is a much larger number than the 200 bones that are recognised in modern anatomy Charaka arrived at this figure by counting the teeth, joints and cartilage.

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 1 month ago

When we believe that people belonging to particular groups based on religion, wealth, language etc. are bound to have certain fixed characteristics or can only do a certain type of work, we create a stereotype. For example, we see how boys and girls are made to take certain subjects not because of their aptitude but only because they are either boys or girls. Stereotypes prevent us from looking at people as unique individuals.

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 1 month ago

Stereotyping is setting an image about people or things based on certain characteristics or their membership to a particular group. Stereotyping is harmful for the individual and society for the following reasons:

1. We set an image of people belonging to one community and then pass on this impression to others. Thus, this establishes an unbroken chain of unestablished form of lies.

2. This image gets fixed and we start to recognise that group based on the set image. This stops us from appreciating the individual qualities.

Flint is a sedimentary cryptocrystalline form of the mineral quartz, categorized as the variety of chert that occurs in chalk or marly limestone. Flint was widely used historically to make stone tools and start fires. It occurs chiefly as nodules and masses in sedimentary rocks, such as chalks and limestones. Flint has been used by humans to make stone tools for at least two million years.  The conchoidal fracture of flint causes it to break into sharp-edged pieces.

Earth has a diameter of roughly 8,000 miles (13,000 kilometers) and is round because gravity pulls matter into a ball. But, it's not perfectly round. Earth is really an "oblate spheroid," because its spin causes it to be squashed at its poles and swollen at the equator. But Earth's size isn't quite constant. Space around Earth is dusty; it's full of asteroid debris, comet trails and ionized particles streaming away from the sun. And as our planet flies through that dust, our gravity vacuums it up. ... So, overall, Earth is getting smaller.
