- By electing the leaders of their choice through voting.
- By taking an interest in the working of the government and by criticising it when required.
- By taking out rallies and protests.
- By participating in signature campaigns.
- By organising themselves into social movements that seek to challenge the government and its functioning. Members of the minority community, dalits, adivasis, women and others are often able to participate in this manner.

River valleys are most fertile region and the first human settlement were all done to do agriculture. The fertile soil in these regions were best suited for agriculture. Hence people first settled near river valleys.

The Hindu Succession (Amendment) Act, 2005 was enacted to remove gender discriminatory provisions in the Hindu Succession Act, 1956. Under the amendment, the daughter of a coparcener shall by birth become a coparcener in her own right in the same manner as the son. It was essentially meant for removing gender discriminatory provisions regarding property rights in the Hindu Succession Act, 1956.
