Untouchability refers to any belief or social practice which looks down upon people on account of their birth with certain caste labels. Such practices disallow them interaction with others or access to public places as equal citizens. So the Constitution made untouchability a punishable offence.
P. Sainath travelled to various parts of the country and found that untouchability was still being practised against dalits or person belonging to scheduled castes. He found that in many places
(a) Tea stalls kept two kinds of cups, one for Dalits one for others.
(b) Barbers refused to serve dalit clients.
(c) Dalit students were made to sit separately in the classroom or drink water from separate pitcher.
(d) Dalit grooms were not allowed to ride a horse in the wedding procession.
(e) Dalits were not allowed to use common hand pump or if they did, the hand pump was washed to purify it.

Inequality and discrimination are the two different concepts. But they are related closely to each other. Inequality may be the difference between caste, creed, culture, language, religion, economic status, educational background etc. Everyone differs from the other in society. Discrimination takes place when one acts against an individual or a community on the basis of difference. A Whim or a prejudice works behind it. If one tries to exploit the other individual who is down in status.
In any way, it is called discrimination. That discriminated individual or community is devoid of the common opportunity or facility provided by the society. It is not at all healthy for a good society.

The famous Greek Philosopher once said "Man is by nature a social animal, an individual who is unsocial naturally and not accidentally is either beneath our notice or more than human." He said this because human being live in groups whether they are smaller like a family or larger like a city or country. They form the communities leads cultural development. We can't live in isolation as it does not lead any kind of cultural and social development in us.

History can be generally defined as the past, and how past relates to the human lives. The main difference between history and prehistory is the existence of records; history is the recorded events of the past whereas Prehistory is the time before writing was introduced. Therefore, it is clear that prehistory, as the name suggests, is the time period before history.

The way fire was discovered is not known. It could only be assumed that early humans rubbed two flint stones together and sparks fell on dry leaves to produce flames. It provided light and warmth and was used to cook food. Therefore, the discovery of fire was one of the most significant discoveries in ancient times.

Yes, Unity in Diversity is an appropriate term to describe India. Jawahar Lal Nehru, the former Prime Minister in his book "Discovery of India" wrote India was always united inspite of geographical, religious and cultural differences. Indian unity is not something imposed from outside but it is something deeper and within its fold, the widest tolerance of beliefs and customs was practised and variety acknowledged and even encouraged.

The rich heritage of diversity in India adds variety to our life and enriches our lives in many ways:
- Diversity teaches us to be open-minded and tolerant as we learn many things from each other and share our experiences.
- We celebrate different festivals together and learn different languages, cultures etc. This kind of diversity helps us evolve as better human beings because we respect people with different religious beliefs, viewpoints, tastes, customs, and cultures.
- However, we stand together as Indians despite all these cultural differences. We share the same national symbols, virtues and feelings. A sense of friendship and unity develops and it brings harmony and prosperity.

The three ways which show that the lives of farmers and herders would have been different from that of hunter-gatherers are :
1. Farmers and herders mostly live a settled life while as hunter-gatherers would always wonder from place to place in search of food.
2. Farmers and herders mostly depended on agriculture and domestication of animals for their livelihood while as hunter-gathers depended on hunting of wild animals and plants.
3. Farmers and herders live in huts and thatched houses while as hunter-gatherers live in caves.

We need to study the past because history records the past as chain of events right till the present time. Hence, our present is shaped by events of the past. The past has a lot of effect on how the world around us exists at present. Hence, to understand the present, we must study and understand the past.

- The Harappans prepared and used cloth. Cotton was probably grown at Mehrgarh from about 7,000 years ago.
- Actual pieces of cloth were found attached to the lid of a silver vase and some copper objects at Mohenjodaro.
- Archaeologists have also found Spindle whorls, made of terracotta and faience. These were used to spin thread.
- We also have indirect evidence to show how cloth was decorated. For instance, a stone statue of an important man found at Mohenjodaro shows him wearing an embroidered garment.
