Kalinga is a historical region of India. It is generally defined as the eastern coastal region between the Mahanadi and the Godavari rivers, although its boundaries have fluctuated with the territory of its rulers. The core territory of Kalinga now encompasses a large part of Odisha and northern part of Andhra Pradesh. At its widest extent, the Kalinga region also included a part of present-day Chhattisgarh.

Yes, the term "unity in diversity" is an appropriate term to describe India. The diversity in India has always been recognised as a source of its strength. Even during freedom movements, women and men from different cultural, religious and regional backgrounds came together to decide joint actions and opposes the British rule. This strength of unity made it very hard for Britishers to continue the rule and Indians won the battle of independence. Also, the same national flag was used as means of protest against Britishers everywhere. In his book The Discovery of India Jawaharlal Nehru says that Indian unity is not something imposed from the outside but rather it was something deeper and within its fold, the widest tolerance of belief and custom was practised and every variety acknowledged and even encouraged. This suggests that despite of having geographical, language and cultural differences, people of India are living with peace with respect for each others traditions and with unity.

Painted grey ware (PGW) pottery remains unearthed at several archaeological sites in Punjab and Haryana. It is believed to belong to the Rig Vedic Aryan period. The important sites of PGW are Dandheri (Ludhiana), Bhagwanpura (Kurukshetra), Katpalan and Nagar (Jalandhar). The PGW culture coincides with the Later Vedic period. The PGW is a smooth, very fine and coloured variant of pottery. It was made of well-worked, high-quality clay with black geometric patterns on it. Floral patterns and symbols of the Sun can also be seen. The pottery remains also have open-mouthed bowls and dishes.
