Fishes respire with the help of their gills. Gills are richly supplied with blood capillaries and can readily absorb the oxygen dissolved in water. The water contains some dissolved oxygen in it. When the water enters the fish through its mouth, the dissolved oxygen is taken inside and carbon dioxide is given out through the gills. In this way, the fishes breathe in water. When fishes are taken out of water, the supply of oxygen to the fishes is cut as the fishes cannot absorb and breathe using the oxygen present in the atmosphere. Hence, they die after some time. Camels are the animals considered to be the ‘ship of the desert’. They are widely adapted to live in the desert areas. Desert is considered to be their natural habitat.

- The function of the human brain is to direct and control all nervous system activities, as well as being the basis of your mind. It is part of the central nervous system.
- All sensory information collected by your body is sent to the brain through neurons (nerve cells). Your brain collects this data, and processes it into sound, sight, etc.
- The brain also runs any muscle activities (except reflexes, which are processed in the spine), including but not limited to movement, breathing, heart beat, etc.
- The brain is basically a big computer that runs your body. All thought and emotion is processed by the brain as well.
