A closed path through which the electric current flows is called an electric circuit. The direction of electric current in an electric circuit is from the positive terminal to the negative terminal. This is opposite to the direction of flow of electrons; which is from the negative terminal to the positive terminal.

When the terminals of the bulb are connected with that of electric cell by wires, a current pass through the filament of the bulb and it makes the bulb glow. In order to complete the circuit the positive terminal of the cell should be connected to the one end of the switch and then to the bulb. Then the bulb will start glowing.

The brain, spinal cord and nerves are all composed of the nervous tissue. The cells of this tissue are called nerve cells or neurons.
The neuron consists of 3 parts:
- The Cyton or Cell body - It contains a central nucleus and cytoplasm with deeply stained particles called Nissl’s granules.
- Dendrites - The dendrons are short processes arising from the cyton and branches into dendrites.
- Axon - It is a single, long cylindrical process which forms fine branches terminally. It has a swollen structure at its end called synaptic knob or bouton. It is also termed as the nerve fibre.

The poles of a disc magnet are mostly located on its flat faces. However, the location of the poles depends on how it was magnetised.
All magnets have polarity. Ring magnets can be made so that the top is a north pole and the bottom a south pole (or the reverse) or they can have the poles on the curved parts. It should also be possible to have one pole be in the center and the other on the outside.

- Nucleoid is an undefined nuclear region of the prokaryotic cell, containing the genetic material (nucleic acids).
- A cell containing a membrane-bounded nucleus and membrane-bounded organelles is called eukaryotic cell.
- Unicellular organism is an organism having only one cell.
- Organism consisting of more than one cell, wherein the differentiated cells perform specialized functions in the organism is called a multicellular organism.
- Cell organelle is a specialized subunit within a cell that has a specific function, and is usually separately enclosed within its own membrane.
