Fix a lighted candle on a table. Take a rubber tube, stretch it straight and look through it at the flame of the candle with one eye (keeping the other eye closed) [see Figure (a)]. We will find that when the rubber tube is straight, we can see the light of candle flame through it.
Now, bend the rubber tube a little and look through it at the candle flame again [see Figure (b)]. We cannot see the light of candle flame through a bent rubber tube. This means that the light of candle flame can travel through the hole of straight rubber tube but not through the bent rubber tube. From this observation we conclude that light travels in a straight line.

Transpiration is the loss of excess water in the form of water vapour from the aerial parts of the plant.
Transpiration is the process which helps the plant in many ways.
*Transpiration results in transpiration pull which thereby increase the rate of absorption of water along with minerals from the soil through roots.
*Transpiration helps in transportation of absorbed minerals to all the parts of the plant.
*Transpiration provides water for the process of photosynthesis.
*Transpiration helps in cooling the structures of the plant when exposed to hot sunlight.
*Transpiration helps the cells to maintain their turgidity.
*Excess water is removed from the cells of the plant to prevent plant decay.
*Osmotic balance of the cell is maintained by the process of transpiration.
*Transpiration helps in the distribution of dissolved substances to all parts of the plant.
*Transpiration is also helpful in maintaining balance in the environment by protecting trees and thereby forests.

The sepals are the outer most part of a flower are generally small leaf-like structures seen at the base of the flowers and hold the petals together. It protects the immature flower during the bud stage. Sepals are usually green. In some flowers however, they are as colourful as the petals and increase the flower's attractiveness to insects.

Relative humidity is influenced by temperature and geographic location. Warmer air holds more moisture than cooler air, and warmer weather promotes evaporation. Areas with a lot of surface water, such ascoastal areas and the Great Lakes region, have high humidity levels due to evaporation.
