We see a large number of objects around us. There are human beings ,animals, birds, insects, trees ,table, chair, books ,blackboard ,chalk, paper, cloth, water, cycle, football, toys ,utensil, sand etc.
Some of these objects are natural whereas other objects and man made or artificial.
All these objects are of different shapes ,sizes and colour. They also have different properties. In order to understand objects around us, it is necessary to classify them into groups.

Lysosomes are cellular organelles that contain digestive enzymes that break down waste materials, foreign material and cellular debris. Lysosomes are capable of digesting nucleic acid, polysaccharides, fats, and proteins. Along with them lysosomes also digest or damage its own cells by its own enzymes, which lead to cell death. This process is called as autolysis. Hence lysosomes are also called as suicide bags

The appearance depends on colour, hardness, texture, and lustre.
Hardness: hardness is another property of materials. Some materials are very hard while some are very soft.
Hard: Material which are difficult to compress are called hard, e.g. diamond, stone, wood, steel, etc. Diamond is the hardest natural substance.
Soft: Materials which can be compressed easily are called soft, e.g. chalk, cotton, rubber, etc.

Hand picking is the method of separating easily identifiable material from a mixture.
The components of the heterogeneous mixture can be separately identified from each other. And they can be separated from each other by by using hand picking.

There are 4 types of food habits of animals:-
1. Carnivores-they are flesh eaters. eg.-lion, tiger,snake,wolf.
2.Herbivores- they are plant eaters. eg.-cow,horse,deer,rabbit.
3. Omnivores-they eat both plants and animals. eg.-bears,human beings,crow,chimpanzee.
4. Scavengers-they feed on dead body of animals. eg.-vulture,hyena,hawk,eagle.

Test for fats:
- Take a small quantity of hard, solid food item and wrap it in a filter paper.
- Crush the food item carefully by using a small hammer and rub the crushed food on the paper.
- Remove the crushed food from the paper, and hold the paper towards a source a light.
- Presence of oily patches on the paper shows the presence of fats in the given food item.

The germinating seeds at the initial stages when a white structure has grown out of the seed are called Sprouted seeds
How to prepare them
Take some dry seeds of moong or Chana. Put a small quantity of seeds in a container filled with water and leave this aside for a day. Next day, drain the water completely and leave the seeds in the vessel. Wrap them with a piece of wet cloth and set aside. Next day you will white structure has grown out it.These are sprouted seeds. You can eat them as it is or boil them and eat. They are very healthy

Fat is a major source of energy and also aids your body in absorbing fat soluble vitamins. You need a minimum of 10 to 20 percent of your overall calories as fat .Test if a food item contains fat.
- Take a small quantity of the food item to be tested.
- Wrap the food item in a piece of paper and crush it.
- Straighten the paper.
- Dry the paper by keeping it in sunlight for a while.
- Observe the paper.
- An oily patch on the paper indicates the presence of fats in the tested food item.
