Camels live in deserts, where it is hot and dry. Camels have adapted and found ways to help them survive in deserts. They have a thick coat of hair that protects them from the heat in the day, and keeps them warm at night. Their large feet spreads their weight on the sand when they are walking. When there is food and water, a camel can eat and drink large amounts of it and store it as fat in the hump. Then, when there is no food or water, the camel uses the fat for energy, and the hump becomes small and soft. A camel’s waste contains very little water. Even the water from the camel’s breath flows back into its mouth. The camels have bushy eyebrows that don't let the sand go in their eyes in a sandstorm. It has a long slender neck in order to reach high leaves such as palm trees, and rubbery patches on the belly and knees to protect the skin when kneeling and sitting on the hot sand.

Fish have adapted to their environment through the evolution of gills, swim bladders and fins. Gills allow fish to absorb oxygen from the water, swim bladders allow fish to maintain an appropriate level of buoyancy and fins allow the fish to move through the water. Its streamlined body also helps to resist flow of water.

The reciprocal of focal length of the lens is called the power of the lens (P).

P (in dioptre) = 1/f(in meters)

The S.I unit of power of lens is diopter denoted by D.

From the formula of power of lens.

1 D = 1/1m = 1m-1

Thus 1 Dioptre is the power of the convex lens having focal length of 1m.

Rooftop rainwater harvesting: In this system the rainwater is collected from the rooftop to a storage tank through pipes. This water may contain soil from the roof and need filtering before it is used . Instead of collecting rainwater in the tank the pipes can go directly into apit in the ground this then seeps into the soil to recharge or refill the ground water

Ripples in water, sound traveling in air, and coordinated vibrations of objects are examples of waves you have probably encountered in your life. A good way to visualize a wave is to insert the end of a pencil into a container of still water. The surface of the water is disturbed, producing ripples, or waves. Electromagnetic waves, such as light, radio waves, microwaves, and x-rays, are special waves that do not require a medium for propagation. We cannot see or hear these waves, but they exist in nature and in many of the products we use every day. Regardless of the kind, every wave has an amplitude. Amplitude is the maximum displacement of points on a wave, which you can think of as the degree or intensity of change. This maximum displacement is measured from the equilibrium position. The following picture shows a diagram of a sine wave. The diagram shows amplitude and wavelength, which is the distance between two successive like points on a wave. Wavelength is like the distance between two adjacent peaks or two adjacent valleys. Stated another way, wavelength is the time required to complete one full cycle of the wave.
