Air is a mixture of many gases. The major component of air is nitrogen gas which is 78%. The second major component of air is oxygen which is 21%. Air is mainly a mixture of nitrogen and oxygen gas with small amounts of carbon dioxide gas, water vapour and other gases. Thus, 99% of air is composed of nitrogen and oxygen and the remaining 1% of air consists of carbon dioxide, water vapour, a few other gases and some dust particles.

In everyday use electricity typically refers to electrically charged particles (called electrons) moving through metal wires. The flow of electricity is called current. Metals are generally very good conductors, meaning they let current flow easily. Materials that do not let current flow easily are called insulators.
