1 dozen = 12 items
{tex}\because{/tex} Cost of 12 pens = ₹180
{tex}\therefore{/tex} Cost of 1pen = ₹{tex}\frac{180}{12}{/tex} = ₹15
{tex}\because{/tex} Cost of 8 ball pens = ₹56
{tex}\therefore{/tex} Cost of 1 ball pen = ₹{tex}\frac{56}{8}{/tex} = ₹7
{tex}\therefore{/tex} Ratio of cost of a pen to the cost of a ball pen = {tex}\frac{15}{7}{/tex} = 15 : 7

  1. Draw a line segment {tex}\overline{X Y}{/tex} of length 10.3cm.
  2. With X as centre, using compasses, draw an arc. The radius of this arc should be more than half of the length of {tex}\overline{X Y}{/tex}.
  3. With the same radius and with Y as centre, draw another arc using compasses. Let it cut the previous arc at A and B.
  4. Join AB. Then {tex}\overline{A B}{/tex} is the perpendicular bisector of the line segment {tex}\overline{X Y}{/tex}.
    1. On examination, we find that PX = PY.
    2. We can say that the lengths of MX is half of the length of XY.
