Germination is the process of seeds developing into new plants. ... When water is plentiful, the seed fills with water in a process called imbibition. The water activates special proteins, called enzymes, that begin the process of seed growth. First the seed grows a root to access water underground.

Seeds wait to germinate until three needs are met: water, correct temperature (warmth), and a good location (such as in soil). During its early stages of growth, the seedling relies upon the food supplies stored with it in the seed until it is large enough for its own leaves to begin making food through photosynthesis.

In India, a lot of rainfall takes place during monsoon and summer. On the other hand, it is not the case in winter.

Because of the finite speed of light, when you gaze up into the night sky, you are looking into the past. The bright star Sirius is 8.6 light years away. That means the light hitting your eye tonight has been traveling for 8.6 years. Put another way: When you look at Sirius tonight, you see it as it was 8.6 years ago.

The definition of air pressure is the force exerted onto a surface by the weight of the air. An example of air pressure is the average sea-level air pressure of 101.325 kPA. The standard, or near-average, atmospheric pressure at sea level on the Earth is 1013.25 millibars, or about 14.7 pounds per square inch. The gauge pressure in my automobile tires is a little more than twice that value. Air pressure is caused by the weight of the air molecules above. Even tiny air molecules have some weight, and the huge numbers of air molecules that make up the layers of our atmosphere collectively have a great deal of weight, which presses down on whatever is below.

  • Herbivores or herbivorous animals are those animals which feed on plants, leaves, fruits and other natural food for nutrition. They are known as primary consumers and lie at level 2 in the food chain. Cow, goat, giraffe, sheep, zebra, etc are herbivores.
  • Carnivores or carnivorous animals rely on other animals for their food. These animals have several adaptations that help to hunt prey. For instance, most big cats such as lions and tigers have robust bodies, accompanied by powerful jaws capable of crushing bones.
  • Omnivores are organisms that feed on different types of food of plant and animal origin. Humans consume different varieties of plant and animal food products and are hence considered as omnivores.
