Ascending Order:
When the numbers are arranged from the smallest to the largest number, those numbers are said to be in an ascending order.
<i>For example:</i>
Arrange the numbers in ascending order from 5 to 11.
5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11
Descending Order:
When the numbers are arranged from the largest to the smallest number, those numbers are said to be in descending order.
<i>For example:</i>
Arrange the numbers in descending order from 23 to 17.
23, 22, 21, 20, 19, 18, 17

A number is a count or measurement.
They are really an idea in our minds. We write or talk about numbers using numerals such as "5" or "five". We could also hold up 5 fingers, or tap the table 5 times. These are all different ways of referring to the same number.
There are also different <i>types of numbers</i>, such as
• whole numbers {1,2,3,...}
• decimals (like 1.48 or 50.5)

An even number is an integer that can be divided by two and remain an integer or has no remainder. An integer that is not an even number is an odd number. If an even number is divided by two, the result is another integer. Since even numbers are integers, negative numbers can be even.
Example : 2,4,6,8,10 ......
