The flies sit on uncovered food and may transfer the pathogens and thus contaminates the food. When a person eats contaminated food, he is likely to get sick. So, it is advisable to always keep food covered and avoid eating uncovered food.

The difference in solubility of various substances is due their polarity. 'Polar solvents and non-polar solvents' are soluble in polar solvents and non-polar solvents respectively, but when mixed together they are insoluble. For example Sugar is an example of soluble substance as it can be easily dissolved in water while oil is an insoluble substance.

(i) Bad smell
(ii) Change in colour
(iii) Change in texture (a property of ‘touch’ which tells about hardness, softness, smoothness or roughness)
