Non perennial rivers are also known as seasonal or peninsular river . These rivers are non perennial because they flow in certain parts of the year when rainfall is sufficient to provide runoff, the rest of the time it is just a dry river bed, rivers of the Deccan plateau receive water only from the rains hence they are non-perennial and non navigable as they flow through a rugged terrain.
