Woodpeckers
Woodpeckers have strong beaks which taper to the tip, forming a chisel for pecking holes in trees for food or nests. Most feed on insects which live under the bark.

The word photosynthesis can be separated to make two smaller words:
“photo” which means light
“synthesis” which means putting together
Plants need food but they do not have to wait on people or animals to provide for them. Most plants are able to make their own food whenever they need it. This is done using light and the process is called photosynthesis.

Plants require light as a form of energy to develop and grow. The way this energy transfer happens is by using chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is the green pigment in plants that is used to trap energy from the sun. Each green part of a plant has chlorophyll.

The growth of a seed into a young plant or a seedling is called germination.
Steps of Germination
- When conditions are right the seed starts to take in water.
- As water is taken in, the seed swells bigger and bigger until the coat splits apart.
- Air can then get to the seed. So, the oxygen in the air helps the baby plant burn the food packed inside the seed.
- Burning the food produces energy. As a result, the baby plant uses the energy to grow.
- A tiny root grows downwards whereas a shoot begins to grow upwards.
- The shoot develops and reaches toward the light while the root system develops deep in the soil.
- The cotyledon later become the first leaves of the seedling when the seed germinates.
- Tiny leaves sprout at the end of the shoot letting Photosynthesis to take place. These are called foliage leaves. They give the baby plant energy, until it gets its own green leaves to photosynthesise.
- The primary root grows longer and thicker together with the secondary roots. The leaves grow larger.
- Finally, More and more leaves grow and the stem becomes thicker and stronger.

Germination is the process by which an organism grows from a seed or similar structure.
The Seed Germination Process :
- Imbibition: water fills the seed.
- The water activates enzymes that begin the plant's growth.
- The seed grows a root to access water underground.
- The seed grows shoots that grow towards the sun.
- The shoots grow leaves and begin photmorphogenesis.

Generally, shrank is the simple past tense form of "shrink" like in "I shrank the shirt in the wash." Shrunk is the past participle being paired with "have" as in "I have shrunk the jeans." There are rarer examples of shrinked and shrunken in literature but not enough to support those usages as standard. Shrink is the informal word you can use to talk about a therapist. The word shrink is related to the Swedish skrynka meaning "to wrinkle." Think about what happens to a lone forgotten fruit at the bottom of your fridge drawer. ... After a while, it begins to wrinkle or shrink.
