A bee doesn’t have to know a flower has nectar or not. The nectar itself attracts the bee. Nectar is a sugar rich liquid whose main function is to attract pollinators like bees. Mainly the scent works ( here by scent i mean picking up the odour by sensing molecules in air and not actually smelling it). But apart from scent, there are other ways like the colour pattern of the flower and a lot more way
