The objective of teaching Mathematics at the primary level is to enable the learners to develop a flair for numbers, numeracy, calculations and spatial orientation. The focus will be on seeing order, correlation, logic and ability to measure and estimate. This has to be done in a conducive environment and through a facilitative pedagogy so that there is no stress about learning Mathematics.
Further, the learners should be made to acquire skills of collecting, receiving, managing and processing data and to obtain meaningful information through analysis, argument and manipulations. The pedagogy in mathematics will be learner friendly and related to real time situations in life.
