UP Board Class 11 English Syllabus and Format

We present a detailed analysis of the format of the UP Board Class 11 English question paper so that there remains no doubt for the students about the marks distribution. In most cases, the format of the class 11 paper is based on the senior secondary class 12 board paper. However, UPMSP has categorically defined the syllabus as well as the format for Class 11 English.

According to the official format, there will be one question paper of 100 marks for UP Board Class 11 English. This paper will have four sections (namely: A, B, C, and D), let us discuss in detail:

• Section A  is the Reading Section which will have 12 Marks. Here one long passage will be given based on which there will be short questions as well as vocabulary-based questions.
• Section B is the Writing Section which generally tests students' creative skills. Here they will be asked to write their original content on topics like Report Writing, Note-Making, Summary writing, Essay, Article, Letters (Formal) to the editor, or a complaint letter.  The mark allotted to this section is 20.
• Section C is the indispensable Grammar Section. A total of 28 marks have been allotted to this section. It will have ten questions (MCQ /very short answer type questions) on Narration, Synthesis, Transformation, Syntax, Idioms, and Phrases/Phrasal verbs, synonyms, Antonyms, one-word substitution, and Homophones.
• Section D of Class 11 English question paper of the UP Board has a maximum of 40 marks which is the Literature Section.
