x/y = 1/2
2x=y
x+7/ y+7 = 3/5
5x+35= 3y+ 21
Now y=2x , substituting it's value
5x+ 35= 3(2x)+ 21
6x-5x = 35-21= 14
x=14
y= 2x= 28
So the greater number is 28

Let the first number = x
second number = y
then as per quesiotn,
x/y = 1/2 => y = 2x ...... (1)
according to 2nd condition,
(x+7)/(y+7) = 3/5
=> 5x + 35 = 3y + 21
=> 5x-3y = 21 - 35
=> 5x - 3y = -14 .......... (2)
put value of y from (1)
5x - 3 * 2x = -14
5x-6x = -14
-x = -14
x = 14
y = 2*14 = 28
greater number is 28
