Differentiation: Cells become specialized (e.g., stem cells turning into muscle cells). Redifferentiation: Specialized cells revert to a less specialized state and then differentiate into a different cell type (e.g., tissue regeneration in some animals). Dedifferentiation: Cells lose specialized features, reverting to a more primitive or stem cell-like state (e.g., observed in certain cancer cells).

The photoperiodic stimulus is picked up only by the leaves in plants. For this purpose, leaf is of utmost importance. For the perception of photoperiodic cycle, presence of leaves under inductive photoperiod is essential, so that, the hormone required for flowering can be produced. Therefore, in the absence of leaves, i.e, in a defoliated plant light perception would not occur, i.e., the plant would not respond to light.

Metamerism is a body type exhibited by members of the phylum Annelida. It means that the body is composed of repeating segments attached to make a whole. These segments are known as metameres, and the lines we see externally separating each segment are called annuli. Metamerism is easily visible in earthworms.
