    Photosynthesis is not actually a single process which is performed entirely in the day or night. It basically has two steps- light rxn and dark rxn. In case of desert plants or xerophytes, CO2 is taken inside the plant cells through stomata during the day so as to avoid the excess transpiration and an intermediate product is produced that is acted upon the daytime when sunlight is absorbed.

    At night because the stomata of the desert plants is opened at night while during daytime the stomata is closed. So they perform photosynthesis at night.
